1. Overview
Some things on Amberrole depend on genuine activity — most directly, unlimited access to the talent network, which an employer account earns while its jobs get real applicants (Talent Network Access Policy §5). Invalid traffic is activity that does not come from a real person freely acting on their own interest. This policy is part of our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
2. What Invalid Traffic Is
- Self-made applications — applications to your own jobs by you, your team, or people acting for you, including from your own network or e-mail addresses.
- Fake or automated applications — made-up applicants, bots, scripts, or browser automation.
- Bought or incentivised applications — paying, rewarding or pressuring people to apply without a genuine interest in the role, or buying traffic from click farms or exchanges.
- Jobs that are not real — postings with no actual opening, or the same opening posted many times, to attract applications.
- Artificial views and clicks — repeated loading of pages, job links or e-mails to inflate activity.
3. How We Detect It
We look at what the platform already records about an application and how it arrived. For example:
- whether it came through the apply form, or by import, sync or our own outreach;
- the application checks that score every new application (throwaway e-mail domains, automated browsers, many applications from one e-mail or network in a day);
- whether it was sent from a network your team used the console from that week, or from a team member's e-mail;
- more than 3 applications from one network to your jobs on the same day; and
- the same person applying again within the same week.
Networks are compared only as codes that change every week; we never store the network address for this. Our reviewers may look more closely when something is reported or the patterns are unusual.
4. What Happens to It
Invalid traffic does not count toward unlimited talent network access or any other measure that depends on genuine activity. Your console shows how many applications did not count, and why. Nothing else changes automatically.
5. Repeated or Deliberate Abuse
When invalid traffic is deliberate or keeps happening, our administrators may set your talent network access to limited or switch it off, remove jobs that are not real openings, and take the steps in the Acceptable Use Policy, including suspending the account.
6. Candidates Are Never Penalised
These checks only decide what counts toward an employer's access. No application is rejected, hidden or marked down because of them, and a candidate who applied from an employer's office network is treated exactly like everyone else.
7. Reporting and Appeals
Report suspected invalid traffic at /report. If you believe applications were wrongly left out, write to legal@sourcehire.app with the job and dates and we will review them.
